My name is Justin Woods. I am an amateur photographer. My goal with this blog is simply to publish the street fashion of Australasia.
Our local lifestyle imports trends, creativity and inspiration from far-off lands, and mostly rightly so. However, there is much that is our own, or at least hybrid, and our own sense of style deserves a place among the global catalogue of great things fashion. Those who are not familiar with our own style are missing out. I can help with that.
If clothes maketh the man, then fashion maketh mankind. The simple individual act of dressing to walk down the street is a sign of the stature, the power, the wealth, the self-respect and the healthy vanity of the society itself.
I am inspired by the great work of US street fashion photographer, Scott Schuman, through his blog The Sartorialist. The blog travels the global fashion capitals, replenishing us in the perimeters with exotic nutrition. But our Australasian cities abound with domestic produce, you just have to dig.
The streets of Australasian cities are dotted with the well-dressed, the oddly garbed, the fashion sensitive and those whom apply the principles of fine art to their wardrobes before they step onto the pedestrian catwalks to mysterious destinations.
I am a career public servant groomed in the bespoke suited halls of Canberra and I now reside in the true Australian capital, and the birthing suite of the nation's style, Melbourne.
